Forming Appositives

Combine the two sentences, turning the bold-faced sentence into an appositive. Punctuate the new sentence with commas or dashes as you see fit. Write your finished sentences in the blanks provided.

example:

The Canadian contribution to the Kosovo air campaign was small when compared to the massive US deployment.

Eighteen CF-18 aircraft took an active part in the bombing.

The Canadian contribution to the Kosovo air campaign - eighteen CF-18 aircraft took an active part in the bombing - was small when compared to the massive US deployment.

1. Unbeknownst to the Allies, by 1937 the Germans had developed nerve gasses.

These nerve gasses were much deadlier chemicals than anything employed in the last war.
